2022 Cadillac CT5-V
The CT5-V is the performance-oriented model of Cadillac's well-regarded CT5 series. The 2022 CT5-V provides significantly more power than many other vehicles in its class. However, as a midsize luxury sedan, it competes against European lines such as the Mercedes-Benz E-Class and the BMW 5 Series. See how this elegant and stylish American-made vehicle measures up.
Trim Levels (Exterior)
There are two available trim levels for the 2022 CT5-V: the V-Series and the V-Series Blackwing. The V-Series measures 193.8 inches in length, 80.3 inches in width, and 57.2 inches in height. The sportier Blackwing is identical in width but slightly longer at 194.9 inches and shorter at 56.5 inches.
The V-series comes standard with 19-inch aluminum-alloy wheels with a Pearl Nickel finish, while the standard wheels for the Blackwing have a Polished/Dark Android finish. For the V-Series, you can upgrade to 20-inch wheels in various options, whereas the Blackwing's wheel options remain in the 19-inch territory.
Engine (Power)
The 2022 Cadillac CT5-V offers a tremendous engine at either trim level, with the Blackwing providing the more powerful of the two. At the V-Series level, you get a 3-liter twin-turbocharged V-6 engine producing 360 horsepower and 405 pound-feet of torque. The Blackwing series has a 6.2-liter supercharged V-8 engine with 668 horsepower and 659 pound-feet of torque.
Performance
The V-Series comes in either all-wheel or rear-wheel drive with a standard 10-speed automatic transmission. The rear-wheel-drive model is capable of accelerating from 0 to 60 miles per hour in 4.6 seconds, while the all-wheel drive takes just a fraction of a second longer, at 4.8 seconds. For the Blackwing, a six-speed manual transmission is standard, though the 10-speed automatic is available for those who'd prefer it. The 0-60 acceleration for the Blackwing is even faster, at 3.6 and 3.4 seconds for the manual and automatic, respectively.
As for fuel efficiency, the V-Series gets 18 miles per gallon in the city and 27 miles per gallon on the highway. The Blackwing is less suited for long travel, as it gets only 13 miles per gallon in the city and 21 on the highway.
Interior
Both the V-Series and the Blackwing seat five people and offer cargo volume totaling 11.9 cubic feet. The front row provides ample head and legroom, at 39 and 42.4 inches, respectively. The back row, however, may be tight for many passengers, with headroom measuring 36.6 inches and legroom of 37 inches. Several of the available interior design elements are track-inspired, including Torch Red seat belts and sueded microfiber accents on the seats, door trim, steering wheel, and shifter.
A 10-inch diagonal HD touch screen is standard in the V-Series, connected to a Bose Performance Series 15-speaker audio system. A 12-inch diagonal HD color reconfigurable driver cluster is available for both models and standard for the Blackwing, which has a 16-speaker system by AKG. Both models come with Bluetooth, USB ports, and a universal home remote.
Safety Features
Various safety features come standard in the 2022 Cadillac CT5-V at both trim levels. These include a front pedestrian braking system, a forward-collision alert system, a safety alert seat, a teen driver system, and a rear park assist system. Both also have a high-definition rear vision camera. HD surround vision is available for the V-Series and standard for the Blackwing.
